Recount Text

What is Recount text ?

Teks recount digunakan untuk menceritakan kejadian-kejadian yang telah terjadi di waktu lampau dengan tujuan untuk menginformasikan atau menghibur.
Teks recount biasanya dimulai dengan orientation yang memberikan latar belakang informasi yang dibutuhkan untuk memahami teks, meliputi siapa yang terlibat, dimana dan kapan terjadinya peristiwa.
Kemudian diikuti dengan rentetan peristiwa yang tersusun urut secara kronologis. Dalam beberapa hal mungkin di akhir teks disertai komentar pribadi tentang kejadian-kejadian tersebut. Kita menyebutnya sebagai re-orientation.

Ciri-ciri teks recount :
-Menceritakan seseorang tokoh / terfokus pada obyek tertentu.
-Menceritakan kejadian- kejadian yang bisa kita amati.
-Menceritakan waktu dan tempat kejadian.
-Bagian-bagian dari teks recount :
a. Orientation : memperkenalkan siapa, apa, dimana dan kapan
b. Events : menceritakan apa yang terjadi
c. Reorientation: penutup, komentar dari tokoh atau si penulis.
- Yang termasuk teks recount diantaranya:
a. biography c. letter, diary
b. autobiography d. pengalaman dsb

- Struktur Bahasa :
a. Menggunakan simple past tense, past conti-nuous dan present perfect tense
b. Circumtance of time / linlking words : then, next, after that, at last,
finally.
c. Menggunakan complement of time : yester-day, last …, … ago, just now, dsb.

Example of Recount Text 1 :

Last month, my family took a camping trip to the mountains. We went hiking and cycling every morning.
At night, we usually built a fire. I had to keep the fire burning. We could sit around it and sing until midnight. One night, while my mother was telling a ghost story, we heard a strange sound. We went out to see what it was. We saw a wild boar eating our food supplies. The boar ran away and disappeared into the wood. We laughed when we saw that the boar was afraid of us.
On the last day, a bad thing happened, my brother, Luki, tripped on a hidden log and hurt his foot. We took him to the nearest hospital. The doctor said that the injury was not too bad. He just had to go to the doctor for more therapy in a couple of days. We went home happily.

Catatan :

Ada perbedaan antara teks recount dan procedure yang perlu diketahui oleh para siswa. Keduanya sama-sama berisi cerita yang menghibur, bedanya teks recount berisi cerita yang nyata (mungkin untuk nyata),sedangkan narrative berisi cerita yang bersifat khayal (bersifat imajinasi). Teks Recount biasanya meliputi cerita perjalanan,pengalaman pribadi,diary,sejarah dan bigrafi seseorang

Example of Recount Text 2 :

Three weeks ago, Alexandra and I went to Singapore on five days shopping trip on February 22, 2006. We took a morning flight on SQ 325 at 08.30 a.m. It was our third time to go to there and we stayed with her relatives who lived in Singapore.

The weather in Singapore was very hot. On some days the temperature ran up to as high as 35ºC but we had a great time shopping. Anita came back to Jakarta on February 26, 2006 at 07.30 p.m but I went back on the next day. She wished to go there again for her next vacation.
